Nestled in northern McHenry County in the Village of Wonder Lake, Harrison School District 36 is a one building elementary school district, currently educating 400 students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The Village is a community of more than 4,000 residents who are dedicated in preparing our students to capitalize on opportunity, embrace challenges, and attain success.
Our commitment is to provide an optimal teaching and learning environment that maximizes success for all students during their school-age years and beyond. In partnership with parents who value education, talented and dedicated staff, and a supportive community, the Board of Education established Mission and Vision Statements that center on developing learning skills to prepare our students to become college and career ready in a global society. We evaluate our students’ academic growth three times a year with NWEA/MAP assessments in Reading, Math and Science. Our focus is to develop the whole child to foster a safe, nurturing educational environment, as well as responsible citizenship.
Harrison School District 36 mainly has two sections per grade level. We offer our students a 1:1 device program, with the focus of providing an atmosphere that inspires our students to acquire and apply core knowledge and critical-thinking skill sets that are essential in an informational age. In 2017 Harrison partnered with Code to the Future, in which we are a full immersion computer science school. That means that students in K-8 receive computer science instruction each day, and they have epic builds (projects) to display each trimester that focus on coding, robotics, collaboration and creativity!
